Frequently Asked Questions
| "Where can I get training on how to create a
survey using the survey tool?" We offer periodic online trainings on the survey tool. Check the training calendar on the lsntap.org website for upcoming trainings. There will also be some tutorials and FAQ's on the survey site. |
| "Are there any manuals or other training
materials available for download?" The Poverty Law Survey Tool is based on the open source project PHPSurveyor. You can find online manuals on the PHPSurveyor site. Also, there (will be) online materials available after the first training on the lsntap.org web site. There is also some help available by clicking the "?" in the survey tool. |
| "When I "post" a survey where is it hosted?" Surveys are hosted on the survey.lstech.org web server. When you create a survey, the tool provides you with a unique URL for that survey that you can email to your prospective respondents or post that URL on your own web site. |
| "When people have trouble with the link who do
I call for help?" If people are having trouble with a survey you created they should contact you first. If you cannot resolve the problem, you should contact us at survey@lsntap.org. |
| "How do I turn a survey "on"? How do I turn it
"off"?" There is an "Activate" and "End" option for each of your surveys. Remember that making changes to your survey after activation could lead to inconsistent results. |
| "How many surveys and survey responses can I
create or store?" There is no set limit. However, it is good practice to periodically delete surveys that you created for practice or surveys that you no longer need. However, if you want to set a limit to the number of responses you wish to have before a survey automatically ends, you can do that in the properties of each individual survey. |
| "Are there examples of the kind of standard
analysis (reports) produced?" The survey tool can provide summaries of how any/what percentage of respondents responded to a question in a particular way. For more complex analyses, you can export the data to Excel or in CSV format for use in any other statistical tool of your choice. See screenshots of some graphs produced by the survey tool on the Demo page. |
| "How do I share surveys I have created with
other survey admins and how do I use a survey
someone else created for sharing?" When someone wants to share a survey they have created with other admins using the survey tool, they can create a template based on that survey, rename it and mark it as "Public". This survey can then be accessed by other admins to reuse to their needs. This is a very useful feature of this survey tool. |
